Job summary

The University of Kansas is seeking student hourly tutors for the PLUS program in Biology and Chemistry to support interactive, small-group learning across Haworth Hall and related campuses. You will attend lectures, facilitate PLUS sessions, help develop materials, participate in trainings, and maintain a positive learning environment while logging hours and providing feedback to program supervisors.

Applicants should have a 3.0+ GPA in Biology or Chemistry and be enrolled in at least 6 credit

Qualifications

Must have a 3.0 or higher GPA in Biology or Chemistry, as evidenced in application materials.
Strong written communication skills, as evidenced in application materials.

Responsibilities

Attend the lecture classes and required weekly meeting for their assigned PLUS group.
Facilitate PLUS sessions assisting students with science concepts in conjunction with the materials covered in the Biology or General and Organic Chemistry lecture classes.
Develop and evaluate PLUS materials relevant to the improvement of the PLUS program.
Attend all the required PLUS orientation, training and workshop.
Establish a positive learning environment valuing patience, encouragement and education in all PLUS activities.
Report work hours and complete time-sheets as directed by the program supervisors; provide feedback on attendees.
Promote the PLUS program via laboratory class visits and university events.
