Job summary

The Wingspan: Center for Learning and Writing Support at the University of Kansas seeks Student Hourlies to tutor courses they earned a B or higher in. You will engage peers, support learning in person or online, and maintain a positive, inclusive tutoring environment for the Fall 2026 semester.

Responsibilities include facilitating sessions, attending all required trainings, preparing materials, and reporting insights to the Tutoring Program Manager.

Qualifications

• Earned a B or higher in the course(s) selected to tutor at KU or an equivalent course that credit was transferred for from another college institution within the last 4 years; or in a higher-level course in the same discipline, as evidenced by the DPR or unofficial transcript.
• Student must be in good academic standing.

Responsibilities

• Engage students in learning course/subject content.
• Suggest appropriate study strategies to learn course/subject content.
• Facilitate in-person, virtual, and/or drop-in tutoring appointments and support.
• Create an encompassing and safe environment for learning.
• Attend scheduled professional development and tutoring training meetings.
• Complete asynchronous professional development and tutoring training as assigned.
• Attend all mandatory training upon hire and as scheduled throughout each semester by the Tutoring Program Manager.
• Help prepare materials and resources for tutoring sessions.
• Provide updates and insights to the Tutoring Program Manager to enhance the tutoring program.
