Summary

The Kogod Center for Professionalism and Communications is seekingenthusiastic and highly motivated undergraduate students to serveas Peer Consultants. This position offers the opportunity to develop professional and leadership skills while helping fellowstudents improve their writing and speaking abilities. PeerConsultants play a vital role in fostering a supportive andcollaborative learning environment for the universitycommunity.

Essential Functions
  • Conduct one-on-one consultations with students on writing andspeaking assignments across disciplines.
  • Provide constructive feedback to help students improve clarity,organization, argumentation, and style in their written work.
  • Assist students in developing and practicing effective publicspeaking and presentation skills.
  • Maintain a positive and professional demeanor, ensuringsessions are respectful and inclusive.
  • Participate in regular training sessions to enhance consultingskills and deepen knowledge of writing and communicationstrategies.
  • Collaborate with staff on outreach events, workshops, and othercenter initiatives.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
  • Part-time.
  • 6 hours per week.
Salary Range
  • $18.40 per hour.
Required Education and Experience
  • Strong writing and speaking skills, with the ability to articulate feedback clearly and diplomatically.
  • Interest in teaching, mentoring, or helping peers succeedacademically.
  • Availability to attend mandatory training sessions at the startof each semester.
  • Reliable, responsible, and able to manage time effectively in abusy work environment.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Prior experience with tutoring, peer mentoring, or similarroles is a plus but not required.
  • Familiarity with APA, MLA, or other citation styles.
  • Experience working with students from diverse cultural andlinguistic backgrounds.
