Responsibilities

  • Set up exam rooms and prepare materials.
  • Verify student identity and authorization to take exams.
  • Explain rules and procedures to students and answer questions.
  • Monitor exams to prevent cheating or violations.
  • Document incidents of misconduct and notify supervisors.
  • Collect and organize completed exams for secure storage.
  • Maintain attendance sheets, bathroom logs, and emails to faculty.
  • Ensure exam materials are returned to proper locations and rooms are left clean.
  • Assist at front desk as needed (answer phones, greet students, help faculty with exam drop-offs).
  • Take on additional responsibilities as required.

TITLE

Accessibility Assistant – Exam Proctor

DEPARTMENT

PAY RATE

$15/hour

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Accessibility Services Exam Proctor is responsible for administering exams to students in a secure and controlled environment. The proctor ensures that all exam procedures are followed and that students are provided with a fair and equal opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and skills. In addition to the proctor role, there may be additional responsibilities, such as working at the front desk.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Set up exam rooms and ensure that all necessary materials are available for students.
  • Verify the identity of each student and ensure that they are authorized to take the exam.
  • Explain exam rules and procedures to students and answer any questions they may have.
  • Monitor students during the exam to ensure that they are not cheating or engaging in any other prohibited behavior.
  • Report and document any incidents of cheating or other violations of exam rules immediately and contact the director and/or the assistant director of Accessibility Services.
  • Collect and organize completed exams and ensure that they are securely stored until they can be graded.
  • Maintain accurate records of exam administration (attendance sheets, bathroom logs, emails to faculty).
  • Ensure that all exam materials are returned to their proper location and that exam rooms are left clean and organized.
  • If needed, the student will also work at the front desk.
  • Duties at the front desk may include, but are not limited to: answering phones, greeting and assisting students and visitors, and helping faculty members drop off and pick up exams.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as required.

HOW AND WHERE YOU WILL WORK

ADDITIONAL SKILLS YOU MAY HAVE

Training & Expectations: Attend a 90-minute training session covering confidentiality, academic integrity, disability services, and exam procedures. Submit weekly timesheets accurately reflecting hours worked. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times. Follow exam policies including handling late arrivals, managing personal breaks, and ensuring exam integrity. Report suspected academic misconduct to the Coordinator of Accessibility Services.

Employment Requirements

Position must appear in your Workday account before starting. A valid Social Security Number and appropriate documentation (e.g., passport) are required. Must meet with Student Employment within 24 hours of job offer.
