Pediatric Hospitalist Opportunity - Block Schedule in Montana

Montana Hospital is seeking a Pediatric Hospitalist to join their pediatric inpatient team within a large regional health system. The team includes Pediatricians, Pediatric Nurse Practitioners, Pediatric Anesthesiologists, Neonatologists, and Neonatal Nurse Practitioners. Outpatient resources encompass Pediatric Endocrinology, Child/Adolescent Psychiatry, Pediatric Neuropsychology, Pediatric Psychology, and Pediatric Therapies.

Pediatric Hospitalist Details

• Full-time = 182 shifts per year
• Schedule typically 14 days on / 14 days off
• Inpatient team consists of 2 Pediatric Physicians and 2 Pediatric Nurse Practitioners
• Coverage involves 2 providers (1 physician, 1 nurse practitioner) alternating shifts with every other day/night call for work-life balance
• 24-hour shifts (in-house coverage not required)
• Responsibilities include inpatient pediatric rounds, newborn rounds, and responding to ED for pediatric cases
• Occasional short-term ventilator management post-op, with pediatric anesthesia support available

Pediatric Unit

• 14-room, 16-bed unit
• Care for patients from newborns to 17 years old
• Includes general pediatric diagnoses such as surgical, respiratory, psychiatric, NAS, chronic conditions, some PICU, DKA, and trauma cases
• Average daily census of about 6 patients, increasing during cold and flu season
• Colorful, kid-friendly rooms with designated family areas; all staff trained in PALS and ENPC

Birth Center/NICU

• Approximately 4-5 deliveries daily, including high-risk cases
• Average newborn census of 6-8 daily
• Includes pediatric and NICU-specific Mercy Flight transfer teams
• Level III NICU staffed with Neonatologists and Neonatal Nurse Practitioners
