The Pasadena clinic is renowned for its excellent teaching environment and for providing extensive experience in general pediatrics, including robust mental health training and a focus on social determinants of health. Certified as a Patient-Centered Medical Home, the Pasadena clinic serves and coordinates services for some of the most vulnerable children in the greater Houston area.
Academic General Pediatrics seeks a dynamic MD or DO to join our diverse division at Baylor College of Medicine and Harris Health Pediatric and Adolescent Health Center at Pasadena. The main clinical role of this Assistant/Associate Professor position is to work as a preceptor with medical students, residents, and fellows in the outpatient primary care setting. The Pediatric and Adolescent Health Center at Pasadena is an academic-based primary and specialty care pediatric practice located in the city of Pasadena, southeast of Houston, and serves children and adolescents from birth through 18 years of age. The clinic is a continuity clinic site for the Texas Children's Pediatric Residency Program and the main site for the outpatient primary care rotation. The clinical site is an excellent place for those interested in medical education, as we can teach medical learners at various stages of their training. In addition to clinical care, this position offers the opportunity to engage in research, advocacy, policy, and educational leadership, with the potential for career advancement through scholarly work.
The ideal candidate will need the ability to work well with patients, their families, and a multidisciplinary team; have a passion for medical education; and enjoy working with children and adolescents with medical complexities and those in under-resourced communities. There is an opportunity for a leadership position as a director for the medical student sub-rotation of Community Pediatrics as part of the Core Clerkship and work with nationally renowned leaders in medical education. Applicants seeking a full-time position are preferred, but well-qualified candidates are encouraged to apply even if seeking a part-time position.
