Job summary

Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Vascular Access Team. You will provide patient care in a pediatric setting, performing venipuncture and utilizing ultrasound-guided techniques for difficult cases, including implanted ports and central venous access devices.

The role requires Florida RN licensure, BLS/Healthcare Provider certification, and 1 year of nursing experience; ACLS/NRP/PALS/TNCC may be required for certain areas.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
• Current Florida RN license (or NLC) and BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
• ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC required for certain areas.
• One year of RN experience required unless approved by director.

Responsibilities

• Support the pediatric phlebotomy team with blood specimen collection for infants, children, and adolescents.
• Perform venipuncture with age-appropriate techniques to promote comfort, safety, and successful collection.
• Assist phlebotomists during difficult collections, including pediatric positioning.
• Utilize ultrasound-guided vascular access techniques for challenging cases.
• Maintain inventory levels of laboratory supplies and communicate needs.
• Assist with specimen labeling, processing, and timely shipment to testing facilities.
• Collaborate with lab, nursing, and clinical teams to support efficient patient flow and care.
• Follow infection-prevention, patient-identification, and safety practices.
• Access and manage implanted ports and central venous access devices.
• Assist with urinary catheterization when needed and collect nasal swabs.
