Job summary

Nemours Children's Health seeks a Medical Assistant for our Urgent Care in Glen Mills, PA. The MA will bridge patients, families, providers, and care teams, coordinating patient flow, collecting clinical data, and entering history into the medical record per protocol.

Responsibilities include preparing exam rooms, assisting with examinations, performing point-of-care testing, administering vaccines, and collecting lab specimens.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program is preferred.
• American Heart Association BLS certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
• Certification as CMA, RMA, NCMA or CCMA is acceptable per policy.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and families at the clinical setting according to Nemours Standards of Behavior.
• Verifies patient identity using two patient identifiers (name and date of birth).
• Prepares exam rooms, clinic equipment and computer technology by maintaining inventory and supplies for the outpatient visit.
• Rooms patient ensuring appropriate documents are with the patient, including required diagnostic reports.
• Receive, unpack, store, inventory, transport non-controlled medications and clinic supplies.
• Obtain and document height, weight, head circumference and vital signs.
• Document reason for visit and chief complaint and initiate orders per Nemours protocol.
• Assist with patient examination/treatment.
• Perform and document point of care testing and controls.
• Administer vaccines and approved medications as defined by policy and provide vaccine records.
• Collect routine laboratory specimens.
• Operate required medical equipment.
• Assist in the flow of patient care.
• Act as liaison between support services, other clinical divisions, and patient regarding care and wait times.
• Make confirmation calls to ensure visits are in confirmed status before visit per protocol.
