Job summary

Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC is seeking a Unit Support Associate to assist in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The role includes 1:1 patient observation for safety and supporting unit operations, such as equipment and supply management.

Required education includes a High School Diploma or GED and Basic Life Support (BLS); basic computer skills are preferred, along with knowledge of child development.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED (Required)
• Basic computer skills (Preferred)
• Knowledge of child development (Preferred)
• Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider (BLS) (Required)

Responsibilities

• Maintain Patient Safety
• Maintain environmental safety through room sweep and checklist
• Adhere to pediatric safety principles including handrails and restraints
• Never leave patient unattended
• Intervene quickly to calm or reorient patient
• Accompany patient for procedures off the unit
• Assist with daily living activities and meal assistance
• Maintain a clean and safe environment
• Report safety hazards to staff
• Communicate with RN to set priorities and handoffs
