Job summary

Children's National Hospital in Washington, DC is seeking a Unit Support Associate to assist in care activities and unit operations under RN supervision. The role includes direct 1:1 patient observation for safety and supporting unit functions by maintaining supplies and safety protocols.

Responsibilities emphasize patient safety, environmental safety, and assisting with daily living activities, with a focus on pediatric care and teamwork with nursing staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Basic computer skills preferred.
• Knowledge of child development preferred.
• Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider (BLS) required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain patient safety.
• Maintain environmental safety through room sweep and checklist.
• Adhere to pediatric safety with handrails, seat belts and direct observation.
• Never leave patient unattended.
• Intervene quickly to calm or redirect patients to prevent harm.
• Accompany patient for procedures off the unit.
• Assist with daily living activities including bathing, toileting, positioning, and meals.
• Stock unit supplies and assist in room setup as directed by the Charge Nurse.
