Job summary

Children's National Hospital in Washington, DC seeks a part-time Nursing Assistant to support neonatal unit care. This role performs basic nursing tasks, helps maintain a safe, clean environment, and supports patient flow under RN direction.

Minimum requirements include a HS diploma or GED, CNA/EMT/CPCT and BLS certifications, and at least 1 year health care experience; 24 hours per week. Salary ranges from $21.37 to $42.22 per hour.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year of health care experience, pediatrics preferred; clinical training counts.
• CNA, EMT, or CPCT certification required; BLS required.
• Basic computer skills, aseptic technique, basic calculations and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with intake/admission tasks and orient family to call lights and unit.
• Set up monitors/alarms and record vitals as directed.
• Assist with daily living activities and ensure proper nutrition and care.
• Provide direct patient care under RN supervision and monitor for changes.
• Report monitor deviations and assist with infection control practices.
• Document accurately in nursing records and communicate with RN and team.
• Maintain professionalism and support family-centered care.
• Participate in shared leadership and uphold patient safety practices.
