Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Pediatric Respiratory Therapist (CRT/RRT) for a travel assignment in Johnston, Iowa. The role features a night shift (3x12 hrs) and 36 hours per week, caring for medically complex pediatric patients with specialized equipment.

Start date is December 7, 2026, and the 13-week assignment opens with 1 opening. Prior travel experience and pediatric critical care expertise are highly valued; ventilator management and tracheostomy care are involved.

Qualifications

• Active CRT or RRT credential.
• BLS certification required.
• State license required by start date (pending license accepted).
• Minimum 3 years of respiratory therapy experience.
• Prior travel assignment experience required.
• Pediatric critical care and LTAC experience preferred.
• Skilled in ventilator management including weaning, troubleshooting high-pressure alarms, and BiPAP/CPAP care.
• Experience with tracheostomy care, airway suctioning, and pulmonary hygiene procedures.
• Experience caring for infants/children with bronchopulmonary dysplasia, RSV, and RDS.
• Proficient in ABG interpretation and medication administration including bronchodilators.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive respiratory care to medically complex pediatric patients, including those with tracheostomies and ventilator dependence.
• Administer aerosol therapy, nebulizer treatments, and airway management as needed.
• Collaborate with pediatric care team to manage chronic and acute respiratory conditions.
• Work some holidays; time-off requests minimized, especially in first two weeks.
