Job summary

Texas Children’s Hospital The Woodlands is seeking a Therapy Technician to support occupational and physical therapy teams in a fast-paced hospital setting. You will assist therapists and therapy assistants in delivering developmentally appropriate care for patients from ages 0 to adulthood, and help with setup, documentation and coordination of care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with basic familiarity with a medical environment preferred.
• Experience with working with children in some capacity is preferred.
• A current basic life support certification (CPR) or scheduled to obtain CPR certification is preferred.
• Demonstration of basic clinical and non-clinical competencies.
• Ability to communicate clearly and courteously with hospital staff, patients and parents.
• Independently support and assist in patient care under the direction of a therapist or therapy assistant.

Responsibilities

• Provides age-appropriate care for Neonate through Adult as applicable.
• Attends health, safety and in-services and other mandatory hospital activities.
• Sets up and cleans up patient care area as requested by treating therapist/therapy assistant.
• Performs patient care and related activities within training scope.
• Coordinates patient transportation schedule with therapists and units.
• Keeps inventory of linen and patient supplies.
• Cleans and disinfects hydrotherapy whirlpools per protocol.
• Cleans therapy mats daily per procedures.
• Reports unsafe situations to Manager or designee and documents appropriately.
