Job summary

Texas Children’s Hospital The Woodlands is seeking a Therapy Technician to assist occupational/physical therapists and therapy assistants in implementing treatment programs for patients from neonates through adulthood. The role emphasizes developmentally appropriate care in a fast-paced hospital setting.

The incumbent will help with patient setup/cleanup, safety in-services, documentation, and coordination of transportation, under supervision, across multiple age groups in a pediatric hospital

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent education with a basic familiarity with a medical environment preferred.
• Experience with working with children in some capacity is preferred.
• A current basic life support certification or schedule to attend a CPR certification course is preferred.
• Demonstration of the basic clinical and non-clinical competencies
• Ability to be articulate, courteous and supportive in dealing with hospital, administrative and departmental personnel, patients and parents
• Independently support and assist in patient care by following the direction of a therapist or therapy assistant

Responsibilities

• Provides age-appropriate care for Neonate to Adult.
• Attends health, safety and training in-services and other mandatory hospital activities.
• Provides set-up/clean-up of patient care area as requested by the therapist/therapy assistant.
• Performs patient care under the supervision of a therapist or therapy assistant.
• Coordinates patient transportation with primary therapist and care units.
• Ensures adequate inventory of linen and patient supplies.
• Cleans and disinfects hydrotherapy whirlpools and therapy mats.
• Reports safety issues to the manager.
• Completes related documentation per guidelines.
