Job summary

Texas Children's Hospital is seeking a Therapy Technician to assist occupational/physical therapists in delivering developmentally appropriate therapy for patients from birth to adulthood in a fast-paced hospital setting. The role includes setup/cleanup, patient transport coordination, and ensuring supplies and hygiene standards are met.

PRN needs include four weekend shifts per month, one major/one minor holiday, and additional weekday coverage as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent education; basic familiarity with a medical environment preferred.
• Experience working with children in some capacity is preferred.
• Current basic life support (CPR) certification or plan to attend CPR course preferred.
• Demonstration of basic clinical and non-clinical competencies.
• Articulate, courteous and supportive in dealing with hospital staff, patients and parents.

Responsibilities

• Provide age-appropriate care for Neonate through Adult patient groups.
• Attend mandatory health, safety and training in-services.
• Set up/clean up of patient care area as requested by therapist/therapy assistant.
• Perform patient care tasks within scope of training as directed by therapist.
• Coordinate patient transportation schedule with therapists and units.
• Ensure inventory of linen and patient-related supplies.
• Clean and disinfect hydrotherapy whirlpools after each patient.
• Clean therapy mats daily per department procedures.
• Report unsafe situations to Manager.
• Complete documentation per hospital guidelines.
