Job summary

Cook Children’s in Prosper, TX seeks an NP/PA in Plastic Surgery to join a collaborative team with physicians in outpatient and inpatient settings. The role involves autonomous patient assessment, diagnosis, and intervention, developing a personal patient volume, and providing clinic/call coverage with potential to assist in surgery as needed.

Candidates will hold a Master’s Degree (APRN or PA Studies) with pediatric experience preferred; Texas RN/APRN license or PA-C license, CPR/PALS, and ACLS

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Nursing as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse with pediatric nursing experience strongly preferred.
• Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies with related pediatric experience strongly preferred.
• Current Texas professional registered nurse license for NPs (RN/APRN).
• Current Texas professional physician assistant license (PA-C).
• Certified as an RNFA preferred.
• Certified as a Family or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.
• CPR, PALS required; ACLS required when assigned to Cardiology/Cardiothoracic Surgery.

Responsibilities

• Autonomously performs patient assessment, diagnosis and intervention according to approved protocols.
• Develops and maintains own volume of patients under physician supervision.
• Provides clinic/call coverage and may round for physicians during periods of absence.
• Prescribes a variety of modalities to meet wellness and illness needs, including hospital rounding/consultation and assisting in surgery when appropriate.
