Job summary

Phoenix Children's Hospital is seeking a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the Pediatric Surgery Advanced Practice Provider team. The role emphasizes inpatient pre- and post-operative care, order entry, family communication, and discharge coordination.

The ideal candidate has acute pediatric inpatient experience and holds a PNP-AC or PA-C with Arizona licensure, plus current BLS and NCCPA certification.

Qualifications

• Education requirement: ACEN/CCNE accredited graduate school in Pediatric Acute Care, Pediatric Primary Care or Family Medicine OR ARC-PA program.
• Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills, plus basic computer skills.
• Current BLS for Healthcare Providers and AZ NP/PA certification with NCCPA where applicable is required.

Responsibilities

• Take comprehensive health histories and perform physical assessments for pediatric patients.
• Order and prescribe pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions.
• Develop family-centered care plans and document care appropriately; coordinate with the team.
• Manage data collection and clinical decision-making as needed.
• Perform advanced procedures as part of credentialing and scope of practice.
• Apply evidence-based practices and adapt plans to family needs and effectiveness.
• Educate patients, families, nursing staff and trainees; mentor APP students and residents.
• Engage in professional development and uphold patient safety through reporting and practice improvements.
• Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.
