Job summary

UPMC is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist to provide quality pediatric speech-language pathology services. The role includes evaluating, diagnosing, and treating clients while maintaining compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.

You will prepare reports, maintain patient records, and coordinate therapy schedules with an interdisciplinary team. The position requires ongoing professional development and strong communication with families and healthcare colleagues.

Qualifications

• MS, MEd or MA in Speech-Language Pathology.
• Ability to read, understand, analyze, and interpret medical record documents.
• Must possess knowledge of normal human growth and development over the lifespan.
• Strong planning/organizational, follow up/control, delegation, problem solving skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to identify referral growth opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Achieves and maintains productivity standards established for the facility.
• Prepares necessary time records.
• Maintains current status of competency requirements for regulatory agencies such as OSHA, TJC and CMS.
• Pursues professional growth and presents in-service/educational programs.
• Performs assigned duties in line with the mission of the organization.
• Maintains accurate progress notes and patient records.
• Adheres to HIPAA and organizational policies and code of conduct.
• Provides speech pathology treatments for clients.
• Prepares diagnostic and evaluative reports with recommendations.
• Maintains confidentiality.
• Compiles data for program needs.
• Coordinates evaluation, scheduling and treatment programs.
• Attends staff meetings and participates in committees.
• Obtains historical information for referred clients.
• Maintains positive customer service attitude.
• May be in rooms with medications stored, no contact with meds.
