Job summary

Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the General Pediatrics Unit. The unit currently consists of 8 beds and will expand to 16 beds in January 2027, with most patients staying three days or less and an assignment of 3-4 patients per nurse.

The role features 3, 12-hour shifts with day/night rotation (36 hours per week) and relocation assistance of $3,000 for eligible applicants.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) OR Associate's Degree in Nursing OR Nursing Diploma.
• BSN enrollment within two years of start date and completion within five years.
• Current NC State Board of Nursing registered nurse license required (or compact licensure).
• BLS Certification required.

Responsibilities

• Plan and provide professional nursing care for patients according to plans of care and policies.
• Plan, provide and document nursing care under physician orders and policies.
• Delegate tasks and supervise other licensed and unlicensed care providers.
• Assist other healthcare personnel in patient care delivery.
• Maintain environment of care and available resources; prioritize workflow.
• Engage in ongoing professional development and education.
• Support development of staff and participate in performance improvement activities.
• Perform other related duties incidental to the work.
