Job summary

MyCHN (Community Health Network) in Houston, TX is seeking a Pediatric Registered Dental Assistant to join our nonprofit FQHC team. You will support the pediatric dentist, creating a welcoming, child-friendly environment while delivering high-quality dental care.

This role requires an accredited dental assisting program, an active RDA license with pediatric experience, nitrous oxide certification, CPR/BLS, and strong communication with families.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited dental assisting program.
• Active RDA license with pediatric experience required.

Responsibilities

• Assist pediatric dentist chair-side during procedures and prepare operatories for treatment.
• Take and process dental x-rays in accordance with safety standards.
• Maintain and sterilize dental instruments and equipment according to infection control policies.
• Manage operatory supplies and support inventory tracking and ordering.
• Support both clinical and administrative functions as needed.
• Assist patients and parents by answering questions and providing guidance under provider direction.
• Help children feel comfortable and at ease during visits through effective communication and rapport-building.
• Monitor patient flow and ensure accurate and timely completion of patient records and documentation.
• Handle incoming and outgoing calls related to patient care and clinic operations.
• Ensure proper disposal of hazardous and contaminated materials in compliance with regulations.
• Follow all safety protocols, including PPE use and exposure control procedures.
• Contribute to a culture of professionalism, teamwork, and high-quality patient care.

What You Bring:

• Nitrous oxide certification
• Current CPR/BLS certification

• Ability to work effectively with children and families from diverse backgrounds
• Team-oriented mindset with strong organizational and multitasking abilities
• Professionalism, empathy, and the ability to manage sensitive situations
• Willingness to travel between clinic locations and work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends as needed
