Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is seeking a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist to perform high-quality radiographic examinations and ensure accurate images for diagnosis. The role involves strict adherence to safety standards, patient care, and precise documentation across multiple imaging modalities.

Requirements include graduation from an accredited radiologic technology program, ARRT registration (or registrable within 6 months), SC licensure, and BLS.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technology.
  • 0 to 2 years of modality specific work experience.
  • Must be registered with the ARRT; registry within 6 months if not currently registered.
  • Licensure from the SC Radiation Quality Standards Association is required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required (AHA or Red Cross).

Responsibilities

  • Performs high-quality diagnostic radiographic examinations according to physician orders and established protocols.
  • Ensures diagnostic images are obtained accurately and efficiently for physician interpretation.
  • Prepares and administers contrast agents as directed and under physician supervision.
  • Verifies patient identification, examination orders, and relevant clinical information prior to procedures.
  • Positions patients appropriately and operates radiographic equipment safely and effectively.
  • Maintains patient safety, comfort, and privacy throughout examinations.
  • Reviews images for quality and completeness and obtains additional images when necessary.
  • Follows radiation safety practices and departmental/regulatory standards.
  • Documents examinations and patient information in electronic systems.
  • Maintains equipment and work areas per department standards and infection prevention protocols.

Job Description Summary

As a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist at MUSC, you have access to state-of-the-art imaging equipment to capture detailed X-ray images, assisting in the diagnosis and treatment planning for a wide range of medical conditions across 16 community hospitals including 3 level 1 trauma centers and many unique outpatient clinics across South Carolina. Additional Job Description

Required License Certification and Registration:

Education: Graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technology.

Experience: 0 to 2 years of modality specific work experience.

Required Registration/Certification:

  • Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), If not registered must obtain the registry within 6 months of hire.
  • Licensure from the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association is required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
