Job summary

Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center seeks a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide comprehensive pre-anesthesia evaluations for pediatric patients scheduled for procedures requiring anesthesia. The role emphasizes collaboration with anesthesia providers and a multidisciplinary team to optimize health and readiness.

The APP will participate in the Periop SHOPPE program, contributing to identifying and addressing medical, behavioral, and social needs before surgery.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP).
• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
• Current, unrestricted Ohio licensure and applicable national certification as an NP or PA.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive pre-anesthesia assessments for pediatric patients.
• Identify anesthesia risks and medical concerns affecting readiness.
• Educate patients and families about anesthesia evaluations and expectations.
• Collaborate with anesthesiologists to develop individualized plans of care.
• Order and interpret appropriate laboratory studies within privileges.
• Document assessments and plans in the EHR.
• Participate in multidisciplinary Periop SHOPPE program.
