Job summary

Henry Ford St John Children's Hospital seeks a Pediatric/PICU Clinical Pharmacy Specialist to be an integrated resource within the pediatric unit and PICU. You will optimize pediatric medication management, develop policies and order sets, and participate in drug-use evaluations and safety initiatives.

You will mentor pharmacy residents and students, provide medication education to patients/ families, and collaborate with NICU/ PICU teams to advance neonatal/pediatric pharmacotherapy knowledge.

Qualifications

• Must hold a degree from an accredited college of pharmacy and complete a residency program or have equivalent hospital practice experience.
• Post-graduate year 1 pharmacy residency preferred; PGY2 pediatrics highly preferred.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification preferred.
• Board Certification in Pediatrics within 1 year of hire is expected.
• Minimum 3–5 years pharmacist experience or equivalent.
• Ability to meet and exceed Level II pharmacist practice standards.
• Ability to serve as an institutional authority in a specialty area.
• Strong leadership and teamwork abilities; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Review and assess medication orders to identify potential drug-related problems.
• Recommend formulary alternatives when appropriate.
• Compound and dispense medications accurately for patients.
• Provide drug information and education to medical staff and patient families.
• Communicate with physicians and clinicians to facilitate care.
• Oversee technicians; assist with precepting pharmacy students.
• May float to cover pharmacy needs.
