Job summary

Henry Ford Health is seeking a Pediatric PICU Clinical Pharmacist at Henry Ford St. John Children’s Hospital in Detroit. You will be a clinical pharmacist in pediatric critical care, collaborating with physicians, nurses and multidisciplinary teams to optimize medication management for critically ill children.

The role emphasizes leadership, education, protocol development, and participation in quality initiatives to improve patient safety and outcomes across the pediatric service lines.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Pharm.D from an accredited college of pharmacy and complete a residency or have equivalent hospital practice experience.
• Pediatric Residency (PGY-1, PGY-2 in pediatrics) preferred.
• PALS certification preferred.
• Board certification in Pediatrics within 1 year of hire is expected.
• Minimum 3–5 years pharmacist experience or equivalent training preferred.
• Ability to meet/exceed practice standards for Level II pharmacist.
• Ability to serve as institutional authority in a specialty practice area.
• Strong leadership and teamwork abilities; excellent verbal/written communication; research/publication record.

• Optimize medication therapy and contribute to evidence-based clinical decisions
• Participate in protocol and order-set development, drug-use evaluations, and medication safety initiatives

• Provide medication education to pediatric patients, parents, families, and caregivers
• Collaborate with decentralized clinical pharmacists and Neonatal/Pediatric Pharmacy Specialists

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Must hold a degree from an accredited college of pharmacy and must complete a residency training program or have equivalent experience in hospital pharmacy practice.
• Post-graduate year 1 pharmacy residency prefered, post-graduate year 2 pharmacy residency in pediatrics highly preferred
• Pediatric advanced life support certification preferred.
• Expectation is that Pediatric/PICU pharmacist specialist will be Board Certified for Pediatrics within 1 year of hire
• Minimum of 3-5 years of pharmacist experience or the equivalent training and experience at another institution, preferred.
• Must have demonstrated the ability to meet and exceed practice standards set for a Level II pharmacist. (Henry Ford Detroit Hospital Only)
• Must be able to serve as an institutional authority in a given specialty practice area.
• Must have demonstrable leadership abilities and exhibit teamwork when working with others.
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills which enable him/her to contribute effectively in the dissemination of information to all levels of health care personnel in the institution. Should have a proven research/publication record.
• Must be qualified to work with pharmacy students at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:

• Must be licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Michigan. If eligible, licensure must be obtained within 30 days of hire; failure to obtain licensure will result in termination of the Pharmacy Specialist position.
