Physical Therapy Resident - Pediatrics (Full Time Days)

The Physical Therapist Resident is a fully licensed Physical Therapist who performs basic physical therapy services and procedures while participating in a structured program of advanced training in Physical Therapy practice. The primary goal of this position is to enhance the therapist’s competence in a specialty area of PT practice. Responsibilities include providing PT services to a variety of patient populations in the acute care setting.

Qualifications

1. Graduation from an approved physical therapy school. Entry-level degree as required by licensing standards (post-baccalaureate, master's, or Doctorate in Physical Therapy).
2. CPR Certification.
3. Knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-specific/appropriate care for the patient populations served.
4. Basic computer skills needed for patient care, education, and research applications.
5. Appropriate interpersonal skills for positive interactions with patients, families, multidisciplinary teams, faculty, and external contacts.
6. Ambition to become an American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties clinical specialist in an associated area of PT practice.
7. Willingness to participate in self-directed initiatives and study outside of work hours to complete all required tasks.
8. Minimum 16 weeks of clinical exposure to patients in the declared area of specialty (including clinical rotations or volunteer experience) is strongly encouraged.

Licenses and Certifications

• Current physical therapy license in the State of Illinois.
• CPR Certification.
