Job summary

Pediatric Physical Therapist (PT) – Therapeutic Preschool and Kindergarten Program

1233 W. Adams St. Chicago, IL | Monday–Friday, 8 AM–4:00 PM - no evenings or weekends.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Total Compensation Package: Valued between $91,000–$105,000.
  • Annual Salary: $74,000–$85,000, based on experience and qualifications.

Job Description Summary

As a Pediatric Physical Therapist (PT) at Blue Bird Day, you will provide physical therapy to children ages 2-7 years old with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ADHD, sensory processing disorder, and other neurodiverse needs. You'll foster each child's mobility, gross motor development, and functional independence growth.

Responsibilities
  • Maintains a caseload of therapy groups, individual therapy sessions and daily case behavior management tasks.
  • Completes daily treatment notes, daily data input and analysis, initial and annual evaluations, plan of care documents to update goals and other documentation as needed within required time frame.
  • Implements Blue Bird Day curriculum and theories of practice models supporting Blue Bird Day's therapeutic model.
  • Participates in on-going collaboration with the client's team and family including weekly emails, phone calls and in person discussions.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with clients and families by providing parent education, home programs, and parent support as needed.
  • Collaborates with scheduling team to manage caseload requirements.
  • Creates visual schedules, social stories, and home programs to help support therapy goals.
  • Participates in required supervision meetings for first six months of employment and as needed per discretion of supervisor.
  • Participates in all required company orientation, professional development days and ongoing trainings as required.
  • Actively participates in monthly staff meetings, department meetings and as needed team meetings.
  • Provide student supervision in alignment with Blue Bird Day and school program requirements, if applicable.
  • Assists in additional tasks as needed to effectively perform in position.
  • Follows all company policies and procedures.
Knowledge and Skills Required
  • Required credentials to practice PT therapy
  • Experience working with children and/or clients with special needs preferred
  • Competencies: proactive problem-solving, results-oriented, worksmanship, resourceful, and clear communicator
Working Environment and Physical Demands
  • Ability to lift at least 35 lbs, including but not limited to lifting children, therapy equipment etc.
  • Ability to walk and/or run if needed to keep clients safe.
  • Ability to implement behavior management techniques, based on training provided by the company.
  • Ability to use hands and arms to prepare and perform required therapy tasks.
  • Ability to utilize keyboard, desktop, and ipad to complete documentation required for funders.
