Job summary

Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety standards are essential to ensure specimen integrity and compliance with regulations. Experience with venipuncture and specimen transport, plus a high school diploma or GED and state phlebotomy certification, are required.

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed.
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast paced lab or hospital setting.
• High School Diploma or GED; proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures; explain venipuncture process clearly and courteously.
• Demonstrate technique with straight or butterfly needles; follow physician orders and match lab requisitions to specimen tubes.
• Package specimens for transport; store specimens by required temperature; ensure proper labeling and transport integrity.
• Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations; attend annual trainings; answer inquiries and read lab results as needed.
