Job summary

Ashton North LLC in Austin, TX is seeking a Phlebotomist for a 3-month contract with potential for permanent placement. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm, with benefits available.

The role requires pediatric phlebotomy experience (3–4 years), skill with difficult sticks, and accurate specimen labeling, transport, and documentation. A valid phlebotomy certification and a high school diploma or GED are required, with 2 years of overall experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states.
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection.
• Fully understand all physician orders.
• Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Store specimens according to required temperature and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
• Attend annual department trainings.
• Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
