Job summary

Texas Children’s Hospital in Austin, TX is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to support RNs in a fast-paced pediatric setting. You will perform routine and specialized patient care activities under supervision, delivering family-centered and age-appropriate care.

You will collect data, document vitals, assist with care planning, and collaborate with the RN and family. Requirements: HS diploma or GED; CNA program or certification; BSN clinical rotation eligibility; and one year direct patient care

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a formal nursing assistant educational program or CNA certification.
• Currently enrolled in a BSN program with one clinical rotation completed at hire.
• One year of direct patient care experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with collection and documentation of patient/family data.
• Obtain and document vitals and notify the RN of abnormal findings.
• Provide high-quality, cost-effective patient care in collaboration with the RN and family.
• Collaborate with multiple RNs to prioritize workload based on patient/family needs.
• Support development and modification of the plan of care with supervision.
• Maintain accountability for personal development and participate in others' development.
• Demonstrate teamwork, flexibility, interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
• Participate in achieving hospital/unit goals.
• Undergo respiratory fit testing as part of safety compliance.
