Job summary

Texas Children’s Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to join a fast-paced clinical team. You will perform routine and specialized patient care activities under RN supervision, focusing on Family Centered Care and age-appropriate delivery for pediatric patients.

Key duties include data collection, vital signs, and collaboration with RNs to prioritize workloads and develop ongoing plans of care. Respiratory fit testing will be required as part of safety protocols.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a formal nursing assistant educational program or certification.
• Currently enrolled in a BSN degree program with one clinical rotation completed at hire.
• One year of direct patient care experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with collection and documentation of patient/family data.
• Obtain and document vital signs and notify RN of abnormal findings.
• Provide high-quality patient care in collaboration with the RN and patient/family.
• Collaborate with multiple RNs to prioritize workload based on patient/family needs.
• Assist in identifying patient/family response to care.
• Provide input to the RN for the plan of care development and modification.
• Maintain accountability for personal development and contribute to others.
• Demonstrate teamwork, flexibility, and professional communication and customer service.
• Participate in achieving hospital and unit goals.
