Job summary

Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford, CT is seeking a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to support a fast-paced pediatric unit (MS7). Under RN supervision, you will provide direct patient care, assist with daily activities, document patient information, and help with unit logistics.

Required: high school diploma or GED; BLS/CPR within 2 weeks of hire; CNA certification preferred. Experience with pediatric care and bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Education Required: High school diploma, GED or equivalent, or higher level of education that requires a high school diploma.
  • Experience Preferred: Successful completion or enrollment in a Certified Nurse’s Aide training program, completion of a Medical Assistant program, or EMT certification strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of one year pediatric PCA experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Direct patient care on the unit, including activities of daily living, vital signs, and specimen collection as required.
  • Accurate documentation of patient information in appropriate forms and electronic records.
  • Maintain inventories and support unit supplies and equipment; assist with errands and routine clerical tasks.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of population-specific differences from neonate to adolescent and applies them to practice.
  • Support mission and standards of the organization through professional behavior and teamwork.
