Job summary

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Nationwide Children’s Hospital seeks an academic anatomic pathologist at the level of assistant, associate, or full professor to join one of the largest pediatric pathology and laboratory medicine departments in the U.S. The successful candidate will join a team of ~30 pathologists and scientists.

Board certification in AP; pediatric pathology eligibility is an asset; focus areas include Neuropathology, Autopsy, Perinatal Pathology, or other

Qualifications

• Board certified or board eligible in Anatomic and/or Clinical Pathology.
• Board certification/eligibility in Pediatric Pathology (if appropriate) and recertification as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide surgical, clinical, or autopsy diagnostic services including frozen section, gross and microscopic exams.
• Perform autopsies and issue death certificates; coordinate with funeral homes; prepare comprehensive autopsy reports.
• Supervise technical staff; participate in annual performance appraisals of key staff.
• Directly supervise and instruct residents and fellows during daily work.
• Contribute to student teaching, lectures, and laboratories for medical students and allied health students.
• Improve services within the department; complete small projects and investigations; publish or present findings as appropriate.
• Ensure regulatory and federal compliance; meet clinical care requirements; engage in quality improvement projects.
• Represent the department in committees and professional organizations; contribute to research and peer-reviewed publications.
