Job summary

Shriners Hospitals for Children is seeking a Pediatric Registered Nurse (RN) in Surgical Services to coordinate nursing care for pediatric patients in the Operating Room, including direct care, education, and transitions of care. The RN will work within the organization’s FOCUSED practice model and lead through preceptorship and quality improvement initiatives.

Ideal candidates will have an RN license, BLS, and within one year obtain PEAR/PALS/ACLS.

Qualifications

• RN license in state of practice.
• BLS certification required.
• PEAR, PALS, ACLS: within 1 year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provides nursing care to pediatric patients in the operating room and conducts preoperative assessments.
• Coordinates nursing care, including patient/family education and transitions of care in the OR.
• Supports professional nursing practice across settings to meet patient and family needs.
• Functions within the Professional Practice Model (FOCUSED) for planning, implementing and evaluating care.
• Provides leadership through preceptor roles and quality improvement efforts.
• Delegates care according to skill level, patient acuity, and resources.
• Shows excellent communication and mentoring skills.
