Job summary

Shriners Hospitals for Children is seeking a Registered Nurse in Surgical Services to provide expert perioperative care to pediatric patients. You will coordinate nursing care, educate families, and support transitions in the operating room, aligning with the organization’s professional practice model.

Required RN licensure in the state of practice, BLS/PEAR, PALS, ACLS (within 1 year). BSN preferred; 2+ years in acute care or pediatric settings is a plus.

Qualifications

• RN license in state of practice.
• BLS, PALS and ACLS: obtain within 1 year of employment as required by hospital.
• BSN preferred.
• 2+ years acute care experience or nursing experience preferred.
• Prior pediatric acute care, plastic reconstructive surgery and laser experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care in the operating room.
• Support professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care to meet patient and family needs.
• Function within the professional practice model (FOCUSED) with accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating and communicating all phases of nursing care.
• Adhere to the ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice as a basis for nursing care.
• Provide leadership through preceptor roles and quality improvement efforts.
• Delegate patient care according to skill level, experience, acuity, and resources.
• Demonstrate excellent communication, mentoring and teaching; participate on committees or projects.
