UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland is seeking an experienced perioperative nurse to provide circulating and scrub support in the operating room. The role emphasizes teamwork, patient safety, and adherence to surgical standards.

Responsibilities include inventory management, instrument setup, chart reviews, and performing nursing interventions under supervision. Current California RN license and CPR/PALS are required.

Qualifications

• Complete AORN Periop 101 or 5 years experience in a level 3 or 4 acute care facility.
• Current experience in acute care setting.
• Proficiency, ability to independently circulate, in at least 3 of the following services: General Surgery, Neurology, Orthopedics/Spine, Otolaryngology/Airway, GU, Plastics, Ophthalmology, Cardiac.
• Excellent verbal and written skills. Must be well organized and detail oriented with the ability to multi-task and work independently and under pressure.
• Basic computer keyboard skills and general PC knowledge.
• Must be well organized and detail oriented with the ability to multi-task and work independently and under pressure.
• Under minimal supervision, function primarily as a scrub and/or circulating nurse within the Operating Room. Administrative and teaching responsibilities to be performed as necessary, including inventory, instrument set-ups and chart reviews. Implement appropriate nursing interventions on a consistent basis, relevant to an operating room arena.
