Job summary

Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago seeks an RN in Oncology to join our pediatric team. The role involves 9-hour shifts starting at 8 am, with a preference for at least 2 years of oncology nursing experience.

You'll perform assessments, plan care with families, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team. The position emphasizes evidence-based practice, adherence to disinfection protocols, and ongoing learning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) or higher is required.
• Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Illinois.
• Basic Life Support certification is required.
• Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, physicians, and staff.
• Special certifications may be required by the department.

Responsibilities

• Performs nursing assessments using established methods and tools.
• Develops or personalizes plans of care and tracks progress with families.
• Creates teaching plans to meet patient and family learning needs.
• Performs nursing care per procedures and protocols; responds to emergent situations.
• Communicates care changes to family and multidisciplinary team; arranges referrals.
• Keeps current with nursing practice and references literature for problem solving.
• Integrates hospital quality initiatives into daily tasks.
• Maintains professional image and collaborates to meet unit goals.
• Identifies learning needs and seeks resources to advance practice.
• Performs duties with customer service focus and teamwork.
• Demonstrates knowledge of disinfection and sterilization protocols when required.
