Job summary

Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago is seeking a Registered Nurse I for the Ambulatory Hematology unit in Streeterville, Chicago, IL. The role requires 2+ years in Oncology, with a BSN preferred, and IL RN licensure. Shifts are four 9-hour days starting at 8:00 am.

The RN will assess patients, develop and adjust care plans, educate families, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team. Strong communication and adherence to safety protocols are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nursing required; for difficult-to-fill roles, ADN with equivalent experience may be considered.
• Current licensure as a registered nurse in Illinois.
• Basic Life Support certification.
• Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, physicians and hospital staff.
• Special certifications may be required by department.

Responsibilities

• Perform nursing assessments using various methods and tools.
• Develop or personalize plans of care and set goals with families.
• Create and adapt teaching plans to meet patient/family learning needs.
• Perform nursing care according to protocols and intervene in emergent situations.
• Communicate with families and multidisciplinary team about health care needs and status changes.
• Keep up to date with nursing literature and hospital quality initiatives.
