Build Your Clinical Foundation. Make a Lasting Impact.
Are you an Occupational Therapist curious about child development, motivated to strengthen your clinical expertise, and interested in practicing across diverse pediatric environments?
At TLC Pediatric Therapy, we believe exceptional clinicians develop through meaningful experience, professional initiative, thoughtful mentorship, and opportunities to translate clinical knowledge into effective practice.
Our Downtown Los Angeles Flagship Hub offers developing Pediatric Occupational Therapists the opportunity to build a strong clinical foundation while working with children and families across school-based, community-based, and outpatient settings.
One career. Multiple clinical environments. A defined pathway for professional growth.
Inspired by Childhood. Supported by Evidence. Delivered with Compassion.
For more than 25 years, TLC Pediatric Therapy has worked to improve how young children and families access developmental healthcare throughout Los Angeles County.
Founded in partnership with a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), TLC's early work emerged from the development of an interdisciplinary medical-clinical manual and a shared commitment to improving developmental identification and intervention.
Our work expanded into pediatric screening toolkits, family-centered coaching, and warm handoff approaches through First 5 LA First Connections (2013–2022), supported by research collaboration with Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) and TLC's founder-developed BRIDGE™ framework. These initiatives also established feedback systems connecting referring pediatric providers with developmental outcomes and results from screening initiatives.
This history reflects our longstanding commitment to early identification, community partnerships, and translating clinical knowledge into improvements in healthcare delivery and policy.
Today, our DTLA Flagship Hub continues this mission through coordinated pediatric therapy services across schools, community organizations, and outpatient settings.
We are especially passionate about supporting children from birth to five years of age and strengthening relationships between families, healthcare providers, educators, and the communities they serve.
As an OTP 1–2 clinician, you will develop pediatric clinical competencies through a diverse and thoughtfully supported caseload.
Collaborate with educators and school teams to support children's participation in educational routines, including fine motor development, sensory-motor skills, independence, and access to learning environments.
Work alongside families and community organizations to support children's developmental participation in natural environments while strengthening caretaker knowledge and confidence.
Provide individualized pediatric assessments and intervention at our DTLA Flagship Hub, addressing sensory processing, motor development, self-care, feeding, play, and functional participation in collaboration with allied healthcare professionals.
At TLC, clinical development extends beyond understanding therapeutic theories. We support clinicians in learning how to translate evidence-informed approaches into practical strategies that improve children's participation and strengthen family partnerships.
You will have opportunities to develop competency in TLC's founder-developed frameworks:
Learn to build collaborative caregiver relationships, communicate developmental information clearly, and support families in applying strategies within everyday routines.
Develop skills in collaborative assessment, treatment planning, and interdisciplinary clinical reasoning.
Explore opportunities to develop knowledge of pediatric feeding through an interdisciplinary OT and SLP approach.
Learn to support caretakers in incorporating developmental strategies into meaningful daily activities.
These models emphasize reducing stigma, strengthening caretaker confidence, and making specialized developmental knowledge accessible to families.
Through TLC Clinical Compass™, developing clinicians receive individualized guidance, competency-based coaching, interdisciplinary consultation, and continuing education planning.
At this career stage, we value clinicians who demonstrate initiative, curiosity, professional accountability, and a willingness to develop their skills.
Progress is reflected in your increasing ability to independently apply clinical knowledge, understand organizational expectations, communicate effectively with families and colleagues, and make sound clinical decisions.
Following one year of employment, TLCers become eligible for consideration for advancement into CoreCohort™, our advanced clinical career pathway.
CoreCohort™ provides qualified clinicians with opportunities to contribute to interdisciplinary collaboration, specialized programming, mentorship, and clinical innovation.
Advancement reflects demonstrated clinical competency, ownership of professional development, effective implementation of TLC's clinical models, successful performance reviews, and organizational needs.
Eligibility does not guarantee selection.
Pediatric experience is preferred. Clinicians developing their pediatric specialization are encouraged to apply.
Benefits include:
At TLC, career levels reflect demonstrated clinical development, professional accountability, and the ability to translate specialized knowledge into effective practice—not years of experience alone.
Progression is based on demonstrated competencies, mastery of clinical and organizational expectations, professional communication, successful performance reviews, and organizational needs.
