Job summary

Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago in Schaumburg seeks an entry to mid-level Neurodiagnostic Tech I to perform neurodiagnostic testing within the Epilepsy Center/Clinical Neurophysiology.

You will collect and analyze EEG, evoked potentials, and related data, while maintaining equipment and preparing reports. You will explain procedures to patients and families, assist with scheduling, and ensure accurate EPIC charges and documentation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Two years of college or equivalent preferred, or 1-2 years experience performing EEG is preferred.
• Neurodiagnostic program graduate or completion of ASET EEG Curriculum required.
• Registration preferred in EEG (R. EEG T.) or Registration in Evoked Potentials (R. EP T.) by ABRET; NCS T by AAET.
• Basic Life Support Certification required.
• Ability to move machines and patients weighing in excess of 25 pounds.
• Ability to effectively communicate with hospital staff and departments.

Responsibilities

• Obtains physiologic data from the central and peripheral nervous system; analyzes and reports results.
• Recognizes and corrects artifacts as appropriate.
• Calibrates, maintains, and troubleshoots equipment.
• Selects amplifier settings, obtains quality data, and analyzes data during recordings.
• Provides anticipatory guidance to patients/families for preparations to be made for their test.
• Explains test procedures to patients/families using age appropriate guidelines.
• Reviews, annotates, clips, and archives neurodiagnostic recordings.
• Keeps up to date in information and knowledge in neurodiagnostics and equipment.
