The Division of Pediatric Nephrology at Children's Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM) is seeking a full-time Assistant Professor Physician Scientist for a research track position. The division includes 6 physician faculty members. We welcome applications from Basic, Translational, or Clinical Science investigators. Einstein/Montefiore has a history of successful mentorship of K awardees with transition to R01 funding, with multiple R01-funded mentors available for interested applicants. The position offers protected research time.
Clinical responsibilities include providing pediatric nephrology ambulatory care to children and adolescents, inpatient coverage, supervision, and teaching of residents and medical students.
The ideal candidate will be board certified/eligible in Pediatric Nephrology, possess outstanding clinical skills, demonstrate scholarship, and have an ongoing commitment to research. The successful candidate will receive an academic appointment at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, with academic rank based on experience.
CHAM is a 192-bed nationally renowned academic children's hospital providing inpatient, ambulatory, and emergency care for children and adolescents. It is the pediatric hospital of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and part of the Montefiore Health System, spanning the Bronx and Westchester counties in New York.
The Jack D. Weiler Hospital is a 403-bed hospital and a Perinatal Regional Center with a level 4 NICU, delivering about 3300 infants annually. The Montefiore Wakefield Campus includes a 234-bed hospital with a level 3 NICU, delivering about 1200 infants annually.
The division includes attending physicians, a nurse practitioner, research nurse, renal nutritionist, dedicated pediatric dialysis nurses, psychologist, dialysis and transplant social workers, and administrative staff. We provide acute and chronic kidney replacement therapy services, and our kidney transplant program performs about 10 transplants per year. Our center is the only facility in the greater New York Metropolitan area dedicated exclusively to children with end-stage kidney disease.
We see over 1,400 new patients annually with various kidney disorders. The division is actively engaged in medical education, quality improvement, and research, including NIH-funded collaborative studies. Resources include the Montefiore/Einstein Harold and Muriel Block Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR) and opportunities for a Master of Science in Clinical Research Methods via the Clinical Research Training Program (CRTP). We also have an ACGME-accredited Pediatric Nephrology Fellowship program and a longstanding NIH-supported Training Program.
The position offers a competitive salary of $160,000-$200,000, commensurate with academic rank, with potential bonuses based on research and clinical productivity.
