Job summary

Dayton Children's is seeking a Mental Health Technician II to provide direct care and support to pediatric patients with emotional, psychiatric, or behavioral conditions under licensed staff supervision. The role emphasizes maintaining a safe, therapeutic milieu, promoting treatment engagement, and supporting daily activities within the Mental Health Unit at the Mathile Center.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in psychology, social work, or a related field.
• CPI or other crisis intervention training preferred or required within 90 days of hire.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a behavioral health or healthcare setting.
• Experience working with patients with mental health or substance use disorders is strongly desired.

Responsibilities

• Provision of a safe and therapeutic milieu.
• Completion of routine safety checks and constant attendance per order.
• Adherence to patient-specific treatment plans.
• Crisis intervention.
• Assistance with activities of daily living.
• Appropriate documentation.
• Facilitation of therapeutic group and assistance with programming.
• Collaboration with the treatment team and discharge planning.
