Job summary

Dayton Children's is seeking a Mental Health Technician II to provide direct care and support to pediatric patients with emotional and behavioral conditions. You will help maintain a safe, therapeutic milieu and promote engagement in treatment under licensed staff supervision.

Responsibilities include monitoring patient behavior, facilitating group activities, and assisting with treatment plans and discharge planning. Trauma‑informed care and crisis intervention are essential parts of the role.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in psychology, social worker, or related field.
• CPI or crisis intervention training preferred or required within 90 days of hire.
• Bachelor's degree is preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a behavioral health or healthcare setting.
• Experience working with patients with mental health or substance use disorders is strongly desired.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and support to pediatric patients with emotional, psychiatric, or behavioral conditions under supervision of licensed staff.
• Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment and promote patient engagement in treatment and daily activities.
• Monitor patient behavior, facilitate group sessions, and support treatment plans.
• Perform trauma‑informed care, safety checks, and crisis intervention as needed.
• Document appropriately and collaborate with the treatment team and discharge planning.
