Duke Careers is seeking a Nurse Leader to serve as the clinical and operational head of the Pediatric Medical/Surgical Unit (Duke Central Tower 1A/2A) in Durham, NC. This role coordinates with medical directors and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, high-quality, patient-centered care.

The position emphasizes staff development, adherence to clinical standards, and collaboration to improve patient and family outcomes in a demanding pediatric environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required.
• Master's degree in Nursing strongly preferred.
• Three years of nursing experience is required.
• Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina.
• BCLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the clinical and operational leader for the Pediatric Medical/Surgical Unit and collaborate with Duke Children's leadership and interdisciplinary teams.
• Integrate nursing and unit priorities into daily operations while driving quality improvement initiatives.
• Support and promote a professional practice model with staff participation and ongoing education.
• Advocate for patients, families, and staff and drive positive organizational change.
• Oversee 24-hour patient care operations ensuring compliance with standards and policies.
• Lead staff development, coaching, and performance management to support patient outcomes.
