Job summary

Cook Children's Health Care System is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) to perform clinical laboratory testing across assigned specialties, ensuring accuracy and reliability of results. The MLS will identify and resolve technical issues, rotate on-call shifts, and support compliance and operational goals across the Laboratory and CCMC.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology/Clinical or Medical Laboratory Science or an appropriate biological, chemical, or physical science and completion of a NAACLS program.
• Minimum six (6) months experience performing laboratory testing in a clinical setting to include tests CLIA-classified as waived, moderate complexity or high complexity.
• Pediatric experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform clinical laboratory testing commensurate with the assigned specialty and subspecialty.
• Recognize technical and process problems and ensure test systems function properly before reporting results.
• Staff hours, rotate temporary on-call, and perform duties to meet Laboratory, CCMC and CCHCS goals.
• Adhere to Laboratory and Corporate Compliance Plans and related policies.
