Job summary

Mid Kansas Pediatric Associates is seeking an experienced Medical Coding Specialist for a part-time hybrid role based in Wichita. You will code pediatric services with ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS, review claims for accuracy, and help resolve coding-related denials.

The ideal candidate has medical coding experience, familiarity with pediatric coding, and knowledge of Athenahealth EMR; CPC is a plus. You will collaborate with providers and billing staff to ensure compliant, timely billing and ongoing

Qualifications

• Medical coding experience required.
• Pediatric coding experience is a plus.
• CPC certification preferred but not required.
• Experience with claim denials and appeals preferred.
• Experience with Athenahealth EMR is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records and assign ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes.
• Ensure services are coded accurately according to payer requirements and guidelines.
• Review claims for coding errors prior to submission.
• Research and resolve coding-related claim denials and rejections.
• Assist with identifying trends in denials and recommend corrections to prevent future issues.
• Review and update claims based on payer requirements.
• Work with providers and billing staff to clarify documentation and coding questions.
• Stay current with coding guidelines and payer policies.
