Job summary

Shriners Children’s in Pasadena, CA is hiring a Per Diem Medical Assistant to support the medical and nursing staff in outpatient clinics. You will perform routine clinical and clerical tasks, include phlebotomy and assistance with casts, while ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout visits.

On-site role with responsibilities such as rooming patients, collecting vitals, updating Epic records, and coordinating with front desk, radiology, and other teams to ensure smooth patient flow.

Qualifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Spanish proficiency preferred.
• Experience with pediatric/ambulatory care is a plus.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools, HIPAA, infection control, and patient safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients from waiting areas to exam rooms and confirm DOB and attire.
• Obtain patient vitals (height, weight, temperature, pulse, BP) and perform basic history taking.
• Assist with phlebotomy, casts, and other routine procedures.
• Monitor patient condition and communicate vital information to clinicians.
• Ensure infection prevention protocols are followed and assist with Telehealth intake tasks.
