Job summary

Family Health Centers of Southwest Florida provides comprehensive healthcare services and seeks a Medical Assistant to support both clerical and clinical tasks. You will assist providers from triage through vital signs, document patient information, and help with procedures in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires strong organization, multitasking, and familiarity with medical terminology and electronic health records. Bilingual English/Spanish and CPR certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant training program with certification preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years experience as a Medical Assistant in ambulatory care.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• CPR certification preferred.
• Strong computer skills and experience with EHR systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide clerical services in the front office including patient registration, cashier, and appointment setting.
• Provide patient care (obtaining vital signs, preparing patient for provider visit).
• Charting on patient medical record/documentation and record keeping.
• Track and register patient data for statistical purposes, as required.
• Assess and respond to patient's needs and educate patients regarding health care.
• Assist in obtaining lab specimens.
• Performs special patient treatments as directed, including administration of nebulizers, injections, EKGs, venipunctures, etc.
• Assists with minor surgical procedures; maintain aseptic technique and infection control.
• Prepares, administers and records medications, as directed by the provider.
• Communicates effectively with other staff and uses medical terminology appropriately.
• Equip examination rooms and sterilize according to procedures as universal precautions.
• Obtains information from hospital or lab as ordered by physician.
• Disposes of infected material properly; manages red bag waste.
• Sets up exam rooms for next day operations, restocking supplies.
• Completes WIC forms as required.
• Uses electronic health record system to enter, retrieve and document patient information and orders.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
