Job summary

Family Health Centers of Southwest Florida is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide clerical and clinical support in our Fort Myers offices. You will prepare patients, take vital signs and medical history, and assist providers with procedures while maintaining accurate charting in the electronic health record.

The role requires strong organization, teamwork, and the ability to manage multiple tasks. Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred, with a high school diploma and Medical Assistant

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant training program with certification preferred.
• Minimum 2 years experience as a Medical Assistant in ambulatory care.

Responsibilities

• Provide front office clerical services: patient registration, cashiering, and appointment setting.
• Provide patient care: obtain vital signs, assess primary problem, and prepare patient for provider visit.
• Chart and document in the medical record; maintain proper medical record format.
• Track and register patient data for statistics as required.
• Educate patients on health care needs and respond to patient questions.
• Assist with lab specimen collection.
• Perform treatments such as nebulizers, injections, EKGs, venipunctures.
• Assist with minor procedures; observe aseptic technique and infection control.
• Prepare, administer, and record medications as directed by the provider.
• Use electronic health record system to enter and retrieve patient information.
• Prepare exam rooms, restock supplies, and dispose of waste appropriately.
• Complete WIC forms as required.
• Communicate effectively with staff and use medical terminology appropriately.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
