Job summary

Shriners Children’s Hospital in Lexington, KY is hiring a Medical Assistant to support clinic operations on-site. The MA will perform patient rooming, document visits, assist with minor procedures, manage supplies, and support Telehealth services when applicable.

This role requires strong communication, clinical competence, and the ability to work both independently and with teams to ensure a smooth, safe patient experience for children and families.

Qualifications

• Medical Assistant Certification required (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or NCMA).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30–90 days of hire.
• Spanish proficiency preferred.
• Familiarity with EMR systems, HIPAA, infection control, and patient safety protocols.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients from waiting area to exam room and verify date of birth.
• Walk patients to radiology or other rooms and assist with rooming.
• Obtain patient vitals, collect specimens as needed, and document medical history.
• Monitor Epic DAR and coordinate with front desk, radiology, and other teams for timely handoffs.
• Direct physicians and APPs to patient rooms based on Epic DAR status.
• Prepare exam rooms daily and maintain supplies and equipment.
• Support cast room setup, cleaning, and supply management.
