Job summary

Children’s of Alabama in Hueytown is seeking an Office Medical Assistant II - Advanced to support a fast-paced pediatric clinic. You will perform triage, phlebotomy, basic imaging, and both clinical and administrative duties to ensure smooth patient flow.

The role requires at least 3 years of Medical Assistant experience and CMA/RMA certification is preferred. Schedule is 8-5 on weekdays with Saturdays 8-12, Day Shift.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 3 years of Medical Assistant experience.
• CMA/RMA certification preferred.
• Experience in triage, specimen collection, and basic imaging.
• Proficiency with EMR documentation.

Responsibilities

• Call and accompany patients from waiting room to exam room.
• Triage patients by obtaining history and preparation for physician exam.
• Conduct telephone triage and escalate urgent concerns to a provider.
• Perform capillary and venipuncture blood draws, collect urine specimens, swabs.
• Perform waived and moderate complexity lab testing with EMR documentation.
• Conduct audiograms and visual exams.
• Prepare and administer nebulizer treatments as directed by physician.
• Perform ear irrigation when needed.
• Dressing minor wounds and basic first aid with physician authorization.
• Administer immunizations and injections as directed by physician.
• Prepare and submit instruments for sterilization per OSHA/COA protocols.
• Dispose of biohazard waste per OSHA standards.
• Sanitize exam rooms between patients and report supply needs.
